FAQ's

What’s so good about Royal Purple?

Royal Purple has an extraordinary tough oil film that forms an ionic bond on metal surfaces which helps to prevent metal-to-metal contact and displaces moisture from metal surfaces. Resulting in machinery running smoother, cooler, quieter, longer and more efficiently.

How does Royal Purple save me money?

Royal Purple extends oil drain intervals, eliminates premature oil changes, minimising downtime, decreases the amount of oil purchased and disposed of. It also has an extremely low coefficient of friction that is proven to save energy and increase output.

What lubricant is best for Whitemetal & Babbitt bearings?

Royal Purple Synfilm, as it is a long life, high film strength, energy efficient, synthetic lubricant that significantly increases bearing life and equipment reliability, also reduces bearing vibrations, coupled with its ability to micro-polish contacting bearing elements provides superior bearing lubrication. Synfilm gains its performance advantages over competing mineral and synthetic oils carrying up to 700 percent greater loads.

Is grease or oil better on wire ropes?

Oil has a lower viscosity than grease which enables it to penetrate into the core of the rope. Whereas grease coats the outside of the rope which doesn’t give the core the protection that’s required. Most wire ropes start to corrode on the inside first, so by the time you see deterioration it could be too late.

Are all synthetic oils the same?

The short answer is no. There are numerous distinctions and differences in the makeup of different synthetic oil. Unlike conventional oil, synthetic oil is artificially made with the help of chemically modified petroleum components, each different manufacturer mixes different products and adds different additives to create their own personalised product. Royal Purple’s unique proprietary Synerlec additive technology forms a tough, slippery, synthetic film on all metal surfaces. This proprietary film significantly improves lubrication: first, by increasing the oil film’s thickness, and second, by increasing the oil film’s toughness, both of which help to prevent metal-to-metal contact making equipment run smoother, cooler, quieter, longer and more efficiently. It displaces moisture from metal surfaces and protects all metals against rust and corrosion. It also fortifies the oil against the detrimental effects of heat, which causes oil to oxidize.

What is the leadtime on these products?

Most of the products you find on our website are held in stock at our NZ warehouse, which can be dispatched to you next day. Some specialty products will require ordering in, which would have an approx 6-week leadtime.

Does synthetic oil harm seals?

The short answer is no. The reason why an engine may leak after changing over from conventional oil to synthetic oil is because the seal already has some damage, and the smaller molecules of synthetic oil are able to pass through very small cracks and crevices in the seal that the larger molecules of conventional oil can’t. Changing over to synthetic oil has no disadvantages, the sooner you find these cracks the less damage it will do to your engine.

Do you have access to Royal Purple, Bel-Ray, and PrixMax products not listed on your website?

Yes. We are doing frequent orders with the manufactures, so we can add any item to our order and bring it in for you. Please just ask and we will provide a cost and leadtime for the item.

Do you have product data sheets (PDS) available for these products?

Yes, we have PDS for all our products in both hard copy and soft copy. Please ask.
